Kant defines the categorical imperative as an unconditional and absolute moral rule everyone must follow. Kant argues if our action would not be appropriate for anyone, we must not do it. A simple example is do not steal. Why? Because if anyone may steal without consequences, people could not make a living with honest, productive work.
